Use the mean for normally distributed data without outliers. Use the median when data is skewed or has outliers (like income data). Use the mode for categorical data or when you need the most common value. For a complete picture, calculate all three.

If all values appear with equal frequency (each appears only once, or each appears the same number of times), there is no mode. This is common with continuous data or datasets with high variability.

Unimodal means one mode (one value appears most often). Bimodal means two values share the highest frequency. Multimodal means three or more values share the highest frequency. These can indicate subgroups in your data.

In a symmetric (normal) distribution, mean = median = mode. In right-skewed data, mean > median > mode. In left-skewed data, mode > median > mean. Comparing these values helps identify distribution shape.
