Gravel is sold by the ton, but calculated by volume. Different types have different densities—crushed stone weighs about 2,700 lbs per cubic yard, while pea gravel is lighter at 2,500 lbs. Depth depends on use: 2-4 inches for landscaping, 4-6 inches for driveways.
