The national average is around 20. Scores of 24+ are above average, 30+ is excellent, and 34+ is exceptional (top 1%).
ACT 36 = SAT 1570+, ACT 30 ≈ SAT 1370, ACT 24 ≈ SAT 1160. Use official concordance tables for precise conversions.
Each of the four sections (English, Math, Reading, Science) is scaled to 1-36, and the composite is the average of the four rounded to the nearest whole number. A 32, 34, 30, 33 averages to 32.25, which rounds to a 32 composite.
Roughly a 30 in each section — on typical curves about 8-10 wrong in English (of 75), 6-8 in Math (of 60), and 5-6 in Reading and Science (of 40). Exact scaled scores vary by test form, so treat this as an estimate.
