Saturn Return Calculator

Calculate your exact Saturn Return dates, zodiac sign and life phase. Find when your 1st, 2nd or 3rd Saturn Return starts, peaks and ends. Free results.

Try a birth date

No birth time needed. The hour you were born moves the exact passes by about two weeks at most, and the page tells you when it could change more than that.

The dates are astronomy: Saturn’s position comes from an ephemeris that matches NASA/JPL Horizons to within seconds of arc. What a Saturn return means is astrological tradition, not a scientific claim.

When Is My Saturn Return?

Your Saturn Return is a major astrological milestone that occurs approximately every 29.5 years when Saturn completes its orbit and returns to the same position it was in at your birth. This calculator instantly shows you the exact dates of all your Saturn Returns - including start, peak, and end dates - along with which zodiac sign Saturn will be in during each return.

What is a Saturn return?

Seen from the Sun, Saturn regains the same tropical longitude about every 29.42 years: NASA gives its tropical orbit period as 10,746.94 days. Seen from Earth it is less regular. Earth’s own orbit shifts Saturn’s apparent position by up to about 6°, and every year Saturn appears to move backwards for four to five months. So the first exact pass of a first return comes at 28.4 to 29.9 years of age, of a second return at 58.2 to 59.0, and of a third at 87.3 to 88.8, measured over birth dates from 1900 to 2010. About three in five first returns cross the natal point once; the rest cross it three times, direct, retrograde and direct again. Astrologers treat the return as a period rather than a day. This page uses a 5° orb, and Saturn usually enters and leaves it two or three times: 197 to 365 days within 5° in all, spread over 11 to 21 months.

Definition

Saturn return: λ Saturn(t) = λ natal, and the period while |λ Saturn(t) − λ natal| ≤ 5°

How to use the Saturn return calculator

1

Enter your birth date, or pick one of the example birth dates.

2

Read the headline: the exact date, or the first and last of three passes, for the return that is under way or next.

3

Switch between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd return to see each one.

4

Check the table for every entry into and exit from the 5° orb and every exact pass, with your age on each date.

5

Use the chart to see how Saturn approaches, crosses and leaves your natal degree.

When people use it

Checking whether you are in it now

The status says whether Saturn is within 5° of your natal position today or between stretches, and the next date it enters or leaves the orb.

Planning around the exact dates

The exact passes are the days astrologers watch most closely, and whether you have one or three changes the timeline.

A second or third return

Anyone approaching 58–59 or 87–88 can read their own dates the same way, with the same precision.

Learning the astronomy

The steps show Saturn’s longitude at birth and each crossing, which makes it clear why the return drifts from the 29.4-year rule of thumb.

Why use this Saturn return calculator

Exact dates, not an average

A calculator that adds 29.5 years to your birth date can land more than a year from the real pass: up to 401 days, measured over birth dates from 1900 to 2010. This one finds the day Saturn actually reaches your natal degree.

Every pass, including retrograde ones

When a return has three passes you see all three, each marked direct or retrograde with your age, and every stretch within 5° around them.

No birth time needed

Saturn moves so slowly that the hour you were born shifts the exact passes by about two weeks at most. Where the hour could change the number of passes, the stretches or your natal sign, the page says so.

All three returns, one tap apart

Switch between your first, second and third returns; each has its own dates, table and chart of Saturn’s distance from its birth position.

Saturn return questions

It depends on the exact day you were born. The first exact pass of a first Saturn return falls between ages 28.4 and 29.9, of a second between 58.2 and 59.0, and of a third between 87.3 and 88.8, for birth dates from 1900 to 2010. Enter your birth date above for your own dates.

It is the time when Saturn comes back to the ecliptic longitude it held when you were born. Astronomically that happens about every 29.42 years. In astrology it marks a period associated with maturity, responsibility and life direction.

Saturn is within 5° of its natal position for 197 to 365 days in all, spread over 11 to 21 months from its first entry to its final exit. The gap exists because a retrograde loop usually carries it out of the orb and back, so most returns come in two or three stretches. The "two and a half years" often quoted is the time Saturn spends in a whole sign, not the return itself.

Every year Saturn appears to move backwards, or retrograde, for about four and a half months. If that loop happens while Saturn is near your natal degree, it crosses the point three times: forward, back and forward again. About two in five first returns have three exact passes.

No. Any birth time on your birth date moves the exact passes by about two weeks at most. The hour matters more near one of Saturn’s stations: for about 2% of returns it decides between one pass and three, and for about 6% it changes the stretches or moves the first entry or final exit by more than two weeks. It moves natal Saturn into the neighbouring sign for about 1 birth date in 200. The calculator flags every one of these.

First exact pass of the first return: 28.4 to 29.9 years. Second return: 58.2 to 59.0. Third return: 87.3 to 88.8. These ranges come from running this calculator on every eleventh day of birth dates from 1900 to 2010.

The exact passes always fall in the sign Saturn was in when you were born, because they are Saturn back at the same degree. Within the 5° orb Saturn can be in the neighbouring sign, if your natal Saturn is within 5° of a sign boundary. The calculator shows your natal Saturn to the arcminute, for example 17° 18′ Capricorn.

Saturn entered Aries on 25 May 2025, slipped back into Pisces on 1 September 2025 and re-entered Aries on 14 February 2026 (all dates UTC). It moves into Taurus on 13 April 2028. The results show its exact position today.

In astrological tradition the first Saturn return, around age 29, marks the transition to adulthood. Common themes are career changes, relationship decisions, questioning your life path, moving and taking on new responsibilities.

The second Saturn return comes around ages 58 to 59. In astrological tradition it focuses on legacy, purpose and wisdom: a time to review what you have built, let go of what no longer serves you and decide how to spend the years ahead.

In astrological tradition, a Saturn return is demanding rather than bad. It is associated with challenges, endings and hard lessons, and also with maturity, clarity and the chance to build a more authentic life; many astrologers describe it as a turning point. Astronomically, it is simply Saturn back at the degree it held when you were born.

The calculator takes Saturn’s position at noon UT on your birth date, then searches the years around each 29.42-year mark for the moments when Saturn’s geocentric ecliptic longitude equals that value, and for every entry into and exit from the 5° orb, refining each to within seconds. Positions come from the open-source Astronomy Engine library, which matched NASA/JPL Horizons to within about 10 seconds of arc on every date we checked.
